The College of Physiotherapy was a long-standing dream of our Chairman Prof. A. Kanagaraj MA, MPhil, PhD. He had been a great Philanthropist, rotating a long time Serving president of Lions Club. During his tenure he had been observing a lot of children mentally retarded, physically disabled and handicapped suffering from lack of proper Physiotherapy Rehabilitation services in the remote pockets of Tiruvallur district.

This gave the immediate impetus to start a full-fledged Physiotherapy College to provide quality Physiotherapy services and excellent opportunity for budding youngsters to learn another professional course Bachelor of Physiotherapy (4½ years) under the name style of Jaya College of Paramedical Sciences, College of Physiotherapy within the ambit of Jaya Arts & Science College Campus. This was strategically located adjacent to Nemilicherry Railway Station abutting the C.T.H Road to provide access to patients and students from remote corners of Tiruvallur district.

The State Government of Tamil Nadu accorded sanction to start the course vide G.O MS No.671 dated 15.12.1998. Subsequently, The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University approved and affiliated the college in the year 2000. The College Advisory Board comprised of eminent medical professionals and academicians who guided the institution in faculty recruitment, clinical postings, evaluation methods, and community awareness programs.

The college was accorded Linguistic Minority status by the State and Central Governments. The sanctioned strength was fifty per batch. By the completion of the first batch, the college was also approved by the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, Delhi. Students are eligible for various State and Central Government scholarships including First Graduate, SC, BC/MBC, Minority and Moovalur Ramamirtham Scholarships.
